Courses have fairly linear paths, but there is a “best path” with more goodies if you’re willing to take the risk. Powerups like Mario Kart litter the track, but they’re Kiby’s copy abilities like Tornado, Jelly or turning him into a wheel for a speed boost. At first, it’s a race to the finish through a course made out of food collecting strawberries. Only the biggest Kirby will win, so it’s a balance between racing, collecting strawberries and jousting with your fellow racers. You race your Kirby against other Kirby’s to collect more strawberries than the others. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a simple and fun enough concept for anyone to pick up.

Taking inspiration from Fall Guys, Mario Party and even Smash Bros, Kirby’s Dream Buffet does borrow a lot, has a lot going on – it’s just a lot. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a game that deserves to be played the opposite of its name. You can cancel the subscription at any time, for instance, right after you've played through Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and Kirby Super Star.Kirby fans have been eating well lately, and Kirby’s Dream Buffet might prove that while a lot of something is good, eventually, you might get sick of it.

More of an old-school player? A Nintendo Switch Online subscription gives you access to hundreds of NES and SNES titles, including four retro Kirby games. There are new transformations and new locations to discover. You can run through the main story solo or with up to three other players. If you prefer the classic style, there are plenty of 2D platformers on the Nintendo Switch to enjoy. Instead of being a simple sidescroller, this one takes our pink friend into a 3D space where he can platform and fight enemies in new ways. If you're only going to get one of his games, I recommend Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
